We have received the following from Mari Itoh, President of IAML Japan: Dr. Hiroko Kishimoto, emeritus professor of the Showa University of Music, passed away on the 9th of October. She was one of the founding members of the IAML Japan branch, founded in 1979, and a committee member of the memorable IAML Tokyo Conference in 1988.
She was one of the founding members of the IAML Japan branch, founded in 1979, and a committee member of the memorable IAML Tokyo Conference in 1988. She was frequently elected as a board member of our branch. Her last term as a member at large was from 2017 to 2019. She regularly attended annual meetings and was an active speaker at the conferences, too. In addition, she contributed significantly to the music library community in Japan as a member of the classification committee of the Music Library Association of Japan.
We will all miss a precious colleague and her broad knowledge as well as her international contact. We remember her with warmth and admiration.
